Network Information

The Network Information Database (NetInfo) is now available for you to search and review the current configuration of any network on the Ann Arbor campuses.

Network Trouble

Immediate, real-time problems with network configuration should be reported to ITCom Repair.

General feedback about UMnet service events or problem escalation may be requested from umnet-admin@umich.edu.

Network Information Change Requests

• The old Network Information Change Request (NICR) templates have been retired.

• Do the following to submit a network information change request:

  1. Go to the "Search for Networks" page of the Network Information Database web interface (you will be asked to log in, if you haven't already), and do a search for the desired network. You may search by network name, IP address, location or VLAN ID.

  2. Go to the "Network Detail" page of the desired network (you may already be there as a result of step 1). If the search done in step 1 took you to a "Network List" page, click the network name of the desired network to go to the "Network Detail" page.

  3. On the "Network Detail" page, under "Actions" (near the bottom of the page), click the "Submit Change Request" button. This will take you to the "Network Information Change Request" form. If you do not find the "Submit Change Request" button under "Actions", then you are not one of the known administrators of the network. If you are in fact an administrator, then submit your change request via e-mail to umnet-admin@umich.edu.

  4. On the "Network Information Change Request" form, enter the desired changes in the box provided, and click "Send". Your request is now submitted; a confirmation will be sent to you via e-mail. UMnet Administration will notify you via e-mail once the changes have been made.
