Charter Cable Modem Service
(Charter Communications Residential High Speed Cable Internet Access)

Effective July 1, 2005, ITCom is no longer accepting new orders for the Charter Cable Modem billing service. Departments who wish to cover the cost of Charter Cable Modem service for their faculty or staff should pursue other methods of payment, such as reimbursement on a non-PO voucher or payment through a P-Card.

The information below pertains only to existing customers of the Charter Cable Modem billing service through ITCom. Over the course of the next few months, these existing customers will be notified of the need to transition to other billing arrangements.

Ordering through ITCom


  1. Make sure your residence is in the Charter cable modem service area, and that your department agrees with the ITCom billing arrangement. Rates are shown below.

  2. Read and agree to the more info Acceptable Use and Privacy Policies (Problems viewing form?).

  3. Print and fill out the more info Charter Cable Modem Request Form (Problems viewing form?). Remember to select either service Option 1 or Option 2.

  4. Print and fill out a Form of Service Installation Order * :

  5. Mail the Request Form and the Installation Form * to:

  6. Charter will contact you regarding the installation. ITCom will send a confirmation to your department that this arrangement has been completed and that charges will now be made to their internal account.

    * Make sure you send the original (signed) form -- not a copy.

Rates Charged to Departments

    The one time installation may include modem installation and configuration, NIC (Network Interface Card) installation, co-axial cable extension and installation of outlet. Additional charges may be added for special installation services (e.g. extensive wiring). You will need to purchase your own NIC prior to cable installation, if you do not already have one.

    If you can connect to the Internet, but are having problems connecting to University services:
    Depending on the server or network you are trying to access, you may only need to re-configure your residential computer. Your departmental network administrator should be able to provide assistance in this matter.
