Telephone ServicesResidence Halls, Northwood Community Apartments, Lawyers ClubCaller IDCaller ID is a telephone feature that makes it possible for call recipients to see who is calling before they answer the phone.If you live in a University Residence Hall, Northwood Apartment, or the Lawyers Club, then Caller ID is already available to you at no additional charge.
What do I need to make Caller ID work?The Caller ID feature requires use of a Caller ID display phone or a Caller ID display box. Caller ID phones and display boxes are available at many department, electronics, and telephone stores.
What display information will I see?The information displayed will depend on the information that is made available.
From other U-M residential phones: the caller's room phone number is displayed. From U-M departments or administrative units: the caller's phone number, and sometimes the caller's name, is displayed.

What display information will others with Caller ID see about me?
When you call an on-campus number that has a Caller ID device connected to it, only your room phone number will appear on the recipient's display screen.
Calls to off-campus locations
What if I use my long-distance authcode or a calling card number?If you purchase a Caller ID device that retains last number dialed, you should delete any history of calls made using either your authcode or a calling card number, since this information will be retained in the log. Please refer to manufacturer's manual for your device for instructions on how to delete last number dialed.Each student assigned an authcode is responsible for maintaining the security and privacy of his/her individual authcode.
