ITS is the SIP Trunk Service provider for University of Michigan campuses.
The service offers a cost-effective SIP connection to units with specialized applications services, such as IVR (Interactive Voice Response) and conferencing services. SIP connections to units who own and operate their own SIP-based PBX are not supported.
SIP stands for Session Initiation Protocol—a signaling standard that allows traditional telephone services to work with IP voice services.
The SIP Trunk Service is managed and monitored 24/7. First level support is also provided to users.
The service is fully redundant and integrated with the campus TDM and IP voice/data infrastructure, providing maximum flexibility to campus units that require customized dialing plans.
Charges include trunk activation and telephone line usage. See IP Voice Service Rates.
