Telephone FeaturesMany features are available that can make your telephone an even more valuable tool than it already is.Call ITCom Customer Service at 763-2000 to learn more about any of these features.
Authorization Code (Authcode)If you are away from your office regularly, you may want a way to easily place calls (long distance as well as local) and charge them to your office phone. Subscribers to this feature are assigned a 7-digit authorization code (authcode) that can be tied to a particular project, grant, chart field, or individual. If you subscribe, you can use your authcode from many telephones on campus, giving you the freedom to make calls from a variety of locations.

Auto AnswerbackIf you have a multi-line speaker phone, this feature allows you to answer a call hands free. A real convenience on those busy days. Available on Electronic Sets Only.

Auto DialDo you have one number that you call often? With AutoDial, you can dial that number with the push of one button. Easy as that. Available on Electronic Sets Only.

Auto DisplayIf someone is expecting a call from you, but is tied up on their first line, they can see that you have called because your Name Display shows up for a few seconds while their second line flashes. Up to 24 characters can usually be displayed on the set.

Automatic Call Distribution (ACD)Automatic Call Distribution (ACD) allows a large number of incoming calls to be answered by a group of individuals who serve as the ACD agents. Calls are automatically distributed to the member agents on a most idle basis. The group supervisory position can tell how many calls are in queue waiting to be answered; the wait time of the oldest call in queue; and which agents are logged in. The Call Management Information System (CCMIS) software allows your computer to have on-line status information about your ACD group and to generate various usage reports. ACD can be installed with or without the CCMIS software.

Busy Lamp FieldThis feature can help you keep a handle on your office phone by indicating when a phone number is in use. In addition to showing the status of the line, the corresponding button acts as a speed dialer to the number. Available on Electronic Sets Only.

Call Forward BusyThis feature can be added to your phone when you would like calls to be forwarded to another phone number if your phone line is busy.This feature is available for electronic and single line phones.

Call Forward Don't AnswerAllows call forwarding to a pre-selected phone number after the line has rung 3-8 times.

Call Forward ProgrammableThis feature allows incoming calls to be forwarded to another University telephone number. This is a convenient way to provide coverage when away from your desk.

Call HoldAllows you to place a current call on hold. You can then answer another ringing telephone, make an outgoing call, or retrieve a waiting call.

Call HuntProvides consistent coverage in you department without having to forward your phone when you leave your desk. WIth Call Hunt implemented on your telephones, an incoming call bounces to the next available (not busy) telephone, allowing more staff to assist callers, reducing the need for voice mail retrieval and customer callbacks.

Call TransferCall Transfer allows you to transfer a call to another University telephone.

Call WaitingAllows a user to hear a tone when they are on the line to notify them that another call is trying to reach them. Users have the option of answering the second call or allowing it to go unanswered. If answered, the user can toggle between calls using the transfer button.

ConsultationThe Consultation feature allows you to put one number on hold and consult privately with another party.

Cutoff on DisconnectThis feature will send a message to disconnect a line after a modem or fax session.

Executive IntercomWorks between two specially designated electronic sets. When you press the Executive Intercom button on your phone set, your message can be heard through the speaker of the electronic set that you are calling. A two-way conversation is possible, if the called party lifts his or her handset. Available on Electronic Sets Only.

Group IntercomPermits a group of employees to contact each other by dialing a two-digit number assigned to the telephone.

Inbound Caller IDAt a glance, identify the name and telephone number of the person calling. Inbound Caller ID is available at no charge on most University lines. It requires either a Caller ID telephone or Caller ID display box.

Intercept RecordingAn Intercept Recording notifies callers of your new number when it's been changed. Provided for a maximum of three months.

Last Number Redial (LNR)Would you like to conveniently redial people you are trying to reach without dialing their entire phone number again and again? The Last Number Redial feature allows subscribers to redial the last number dialed from their telephone set by pushing the pound key (#) twice.

Make Set BusyAllows ringing to be turned off for all lines on your set (Button Required). Only available for phones that are configured with the Automatic Call Distribution feature.

Message Waiting Indicator (MWI)An indicator tells you there is a voice mail message (or messages) waiting for you in your mailbox. The indicator turns off when you have listened to all your new messages.This feature is standard with U-M Voice Mail and Exchange Voice Mail Only or upon request with Exchange Unified. Some telephones have a Msg Wait button that the user can press to directly dial the voice mail system when the Message Waiting Indicator is on.

Multiple Appearance Directory Number (MADN)Do you work at more than one location on campus? With a MADN, your number can ring at numerous locations anywhere on campus.

Music on HoldName that tune. Give your customers something nice to listen to while they're on hold. Available on Electronic Sets Only.

Name DisplayThis feature displays your name and phone number when you make calls to campus lines that also have telephone display sets. In fact, many U-M telephone sets already have display units built into them.When your caller has Name Display, you will know who is calling you before you answer your phone. Basic phone lines can be programmed with up to 15 character name displays and most Advanced phone lines (electronic, multi-line phones) can be programmed with up to 24 characters.

Outbound Caller IDOutbound Caller ID allows your U-M 10-digit telephone number to be displayed to persons you are calling off campus, including cell phones. The feature also allows you to return to the generic display on any specific call by entering *67 before the call is placed. By dialing *67 then 9 and the number you wish to reach, your Outbound Caller ID will be "University of Michigan 734-647-0000." The actual text displayed to the person receiving the call will depend upon the telephone service they use. Some services display no text or a non-descriptive phrase such as "Unknown Caller."Outbound Caller ID is not available on University Housing student residence telephones or on Voice-over-IP (VoIP) telephones on the Flint and Dearborn campuses.

Ring AgainRing Again can be used to notify you that the busy University number you have tried to reach is now idle, ready to accept incoming calls. It can automatically connect you when you lift your receiver.

Simultaneous Ring (SimRing)If you work in multiple locations, the SimRing feature allows you to personally direct calls from your phone to up to five locations, including your cell phone and pager, all at the same time. With this feature, you are able to easily set up and change where your calls are directed. The feature is restricted to your local calling area.

Six-Way ConferenceYou can create a 6 party conference call with this feature. Available on Electronic Sets Only.

Speed CallingDo you have a long list of frequently called numbers? With Speed Call, one key on a multi line set accepts codes entered by the user. Each of these codes is associated with a given phone number on the user's Speed Call list. You can program a list of 10, 30, or 50 frequently called numbers. An access code or key can be used to automatically dial the numbers.
